Q8- In the Quran it mentions the virgin conception of
Jesus, why would God go to such extremes to produce a prophet when all other prophets came
about the usual way - through intercourse and birth? If Jesus is not divine then what
purpose did the virginal conception serve?
A8- People back then were good in medicine and doing medical work among the people of
Israel and the Romans. Jesus' miraculous birth looked unusual because no doctor back then
could produce such a miracle. Similar to when Moses performed magic to Pharaoh. GOD
Almighty chose this miracle for Moses because during that time, magicians were big, and
Moses' miraculous creation of a snake from a stick defeated all fake tricks. Similar
to Muhammad with poetry in the Noble Quran. Arabs were known for high literature and
poetry. The Noble Quran's literature and poetry came and surpassed all poetry at that
time. That's why when Allah Almighty in the Arabic Quran challenged the Arabs to produce a
chapter like anyone in the Noble Quran (see Noble Verses 2:23,
10:38, 11:13 and 52:34), the Arabs couldn't do it. Otherwise, Islam would have
failed then, especially among the pagan Arabs who later embraced Islam.
A continuation to my answer from brother Yishan Jufu; may
Allah Almighty always be pleased with him: "God sent Jesus [peace be upon him] as a
prophet to the children of Israel after so many prophets were sent to them, some with
miracles as in the case of Moses, but they [Israelites] did not observe and abide by God's
laws and commandments. Jesus was the last prophet from the children of Israel to
them and was sent in a miraculous way to prove to a people who expected miracles to
believe that a person was a prophet from God. Previous miracles did not convince all the
Israelites, therefore God sent Jesus [peace be upon him] in the virgin birth manner and
bestowed upon him more convincing miracles that he performed by the will of God to
convince the Israelites.
The miracle of Jesus' [peace be upon him] virgin birth is a great one so easy for God to do. However, the creation of Adam [peace be upon him] was even greater as he was created from dust (no parents at all). As God plans everything according to his all-knowing powers, he sent Jesus [peace be upon him] as a final chance to the Israelites, but still they did not heed. Now some Christians and Jews will reject this argument on grounds that the Jews were observant of God's commands, to which I would say: what does the NT say about Jesus [peace be upon him] doing to the people in the temple? read the Bible. And what did God do to the children of Israel and the wilderness story? Why was that?"
